INNOVA4TB EVENTS
INNOVA4TB & TBnet Fundraising Campaign
The Russians attacks on the Ukrainian electrical system has caused severe electricity outages in the country. The Centre for Socially Significant Diseases, one of INNOVA4TB partners in Ukraine, is the main regional TB/HIV managing facility. They lead TB/HIV management in a region with 2 million people and 100 000 internally displaced people.
The region has traditionally high rates of TB, MDR-TB and HIV/TB. Recently, due to the dedicated work of the staff, the prevalence of TB started to decrease, and effective diagnostics of HIV allowed to provide ART to more people living with HIV. During the last two years, the work of the Centre for Socially Significant Diseases was impacted by COVID-19 pandemic but they could still perform TB/HIV diagnostics on a large scale. However, now the Centre is facing challenges with electricity that could cause operational issues.

Oleksandr Konopko, the Director Interim of the Centre for Socially Significant Diseases has described the Centre’s need for a more powerful diesel generator.
This letter was drafted by Stanislav Pavskyi who you may know from INNOVA4TB meetings. Stanislav is currently leading the management of strategic and international questions at the Centre for Socially Significant Diseases.
Together with TBnet, the European network for clinical tuberculosis, we have started a campaign to raise funds for an electricity generator to maintain the work of the laboratory. In a joint effort we have already raised more than 2500 euros over the last week, a great result! However, the electricity generator is an expensive device and we need to raise more. As part of this consortium, we all understand the key role of the laboratory diagnostics in TB and HIV management – without diagnosis there is no treatment - and every piece of equipment needed for diagnostics is powered by electricity. Please, join the campaign and support Ukrainian colleagues do their work.

The World TB Day is close and the best advocacy step that is needed right here and right now is the support of the infrastructure for TB and HIV management.
Please consider sharing this link and the message, thank you all!

INNOVA4TB Secondee Summer Day
This year we have our first Summer Secondee Day!
It will be an exciting event where many of our secondees will meet up and, together with other colleagues of the consortium, will give flash talks about their research and experience.
This meeting is an internal event of the consortium.
INNOVA4TB will be present at the A-Patch Final Seminar in Finland on June 7th and 8th
A-Patch is a European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program funded project that aims to research, develop, and validate a novel non-invasive wearable sensing patch for the detection of infectious disease at point-of-care, such as TB, from the skin, with an ability to serve as a monitoring and epidemic control tool.
Check the agenda below and feel free to join us!
For more information about the project and seminar registration visit their website
Due to the situation in Ukraine and considering that 4 of our partners are in Ukraine & Moldova, we are postponing our monthly meetings.
We will resume them as soon as the situation improves.

European Performing Science Night (24.09.2021)
Together with other research groups from the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) in Barcelona (Spain), our colleagues from One & a Half Lab will participate in this year's European Performing Science Night.
The product will be the result of a collaborative workshop between researchers and artists in order to motivate and strengthen public engagement and awareness.
As part of INNOVA4TB, our colleagues will explain certain concepts about tuberculosis which will hopefully make it easier for everyone to understand and relate to the struggles of overcoming this disease and the importance of research in doing so.
