OBJECTIVES

TO IMPROVE THE UNDERSTANDING OF HOST-PATHOGEN INTERACTION DURING LATENCY

What we are going to do


Identify the population with a high risk of developing TB. 


Find specific biomarkers of latency and the risk of progression.

Search for a blood signature of progression to active TB using a transcriptomics.

Study primary immunodeficiencies by whole-exome sequencing. 

WP3: DEVELOPMENT OF NEW DIAGNOSTIC METHODS

Develop, evaluate and determine the efficacy of new rapid methods, cost-affordable, for diagnosing active TB and also monitoring treatment. 


Diagnostic imaging.

Automatic system to read smears.

Immunomagnetic microfluidic concentrator and separator of target elements.

Metabolomics.


WP4: DEVELOPMENT OF TESTS FOR MULTI/EXTENSIVELY DRUG-RESISTANT TB DETECTION

Focus on technologies able to detect multiple targets.

Circularized padlock probe amplification and read-out by lateral flow assay.

High-throughput detection on a 96-well array.

WP1: MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING

Train the staff participating in the project, to improve their professional careers and improve the scientific results of the project.
